There has been a long history of production at the Widow Jane Distillery. The Rosendale Mines in New York's upstate area is the source of the water used by the distillery, thus the name "Widow Jane." One of the reasons this mine became so well-known was the high quality of the limestone it produced. Although limestone is no longer extracted from the area, the water from the mine is piped to Brooklyn for use in bourbon distillation. Both mines have names beginning with "Widow Jane." The distillery's distinctive Bourbon also has the Bloody Butcher red maize.

How It Worked

Widow Jane's President and Master Blender, and Lisa Roper Wicker, the Distiller, have experienced a life-changing whiskey encounter. She began her career in the alcohol business by working as a farm laborer for the Simmons Winery, much like many others in the whiskey industry. Later, she learned the ropes of distillation while working with Steve Beam at the Limestone Branch.

Following that, while employed by the Huber family at Starlight Distillery, she switched to working with brandy. After that, she became a consultant for distilleries, leading to a dinner invitation from Robert Furniss-Roe, CEO of spirits behemoth Samson & Surrey. Lisa had first declined his offer out of respect for the job that the Hubers were doing in Indiana. Still, when Furniss-Roe retired, she eventually accepted the position as President of Widow Jane, Head Blender, and Head Distiller. Among the Allocated bourbons Alberta, Widow Jane is a well-known name.

The production Details

The distillery's present and former proprietors have always used whiskey extensively in their production. When a distillery first opens, this is how they usually do things. A consistent supply of cash is required until the whiskey has reached the desired maturity level. The whiskey in this bottle was sourced from a distillery. The Widow Jane Distillery is lucky to have Lisa Roper Wicker serving as the master blender because of her remarkable ability to mix the whiskey delivered to the distillery into a high-quality finished product. Lisa has excellent taste and is a superb distiller. In addition to being the Master Distiller at Widow Jane Distillery, she also acts as the Master Blender for the company's provided products. She juggles both roles. She mixed whiskey from three distinct distilleries in three states to produce this outstanding Bourbon: Kentucky, Tennessee, and Indiana.

Aroma Massive amounts of vanilla, with hints of leather, spices (including anise and ginger), and even a touch of wood.

Featuring a flavor profile that includes caramel, leather, licorice, and wood tannins. The sweetness of the oak and the caramel's tartness will be amplified if you pair it with a dried cranberry. With the addition of pecans, the spice takes on a white pepper flavor and is supported by a robust caramel flavor. Widow Jane is a well-known name for the Allocated bourbons in Ontario.

The flavor is dry and is complemented by leather and wood. The cranberry gives a touch of sweetness towards the finish, which pairs well with the caramel undertones left behind by the oak. The peppery and oaky aftertaste lingered thanks to the pecan.
