Château Blaignan comes from an estate in the Médoc region of Bordeaux, France. It is a wine producer known for its premium quality blends of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc varietals. With an average vines age of 40 years, Château Blaignan consistently produces robust, deeply concentrated wines characterized by their high tannin counts. The winery was created in 1975 when the original owners decided to bottle and market their classic "cru bourgeois" wines rather than selling them as bulk to the regional cooperatives. In the decades since, Château Blaignan has become one of the most respected wine labels in Bordeaux. In 2009, the estate earned a high rating by the Revue du Vin de France and again in 2012 it received a Gold Medal from Decanter. Château Blaignan wines feature an intense nose of dark plums, truffle, and black cherry. On the palate they have notes of licorice, earth, and tobacco, and a complex structure of tannins and fresh acidity. Their aging potential is impressive, with some bottles able to last 30 or more years.
